Serene Fluidity: A Soft Minimalist HDB Transformation
B.Z. 171B Rivervale Shores
This 4-room BTO renovation at Rivervale Shores redefined HDB living through a soft minimalist lens. By prioritizing light-reflective surfaces and fluid, curved cabinetry, we transformed a standard segmented layout into an airy, tactile sanctuary.
The Master Bedroom: Restorative Japandi Retreat
Design Brief
Create a restful master suite that maximizes storage efficiency and incorporates a dedicated vanity area without compromising the room’s airy, minimalist atmosphere.
Design Challenge
Integrating floor-to-ceiling wardrobes and a vanity station into a compact Singapore HDB/condo footprint risked over-crowding the space and reducing its restorative qualities.
Design Solution
We implemented seamless floor-to-ceiling joinery in a pale taupe finish, allowing the cabinetry to blend into the walls. A recessed vanity niche with integrated LED strip lighting adds depth without adding bulk. To balance the linear joinery, we introduced a low-profile bouclé upholstered bed frame and a circular rug to provide tactile warmth.
The Living Room: Scandi-Boho Social Lounge
Design Brief
Develop a versatile living area optimized for entertaining and relaxation, utilizing the property's natural light and open-plan layout.
Design Challenge
The long, rectangular layout required clear spatial zoning to prevent furniture from appearing "floating," while managing high-intensity sunlight from large windows.
Design Solution
We utilized a large-format textured wool rug to anchor the lounge zone within the open floor plan. A neutral-grey low-profile sectional sofa maintains clear sightlines, while sheer floor-to-ceiling drapery diffuses harsh daylight across the travertine flooring. A sculptural arc lamp provides height and visual interest without obstructing the room’s flow.
Kitchen Design: Space-Saving Social Hub
Design Brief
The objective was to convert a constrained galley-style kitchen into a high-utility social center. The layout required a balance between heavy-duty cooking zones and a welcoming area for guests, emphasizing natural textures to soften the architectural lines.
Design Challenge
The primary obstacle was a narrow 3-meter floor plan paired with standard white tiling that felt cold and cramped. We needed a dining solution that provided seating without obstructing the high-traffic workflow between the stove and refrigerator.
Design Solution
We implemented a compact waterfall-edge breakfast bar in honed marble to save space while adding luxury. To solve the "sterility" issue, we layered warm timber cladding on lower cabinets and installed a brass industrial-chic pendant light. A vertical wire-grid feature wall was added to provide personalized storage, successfully turning a utilitarian corridor into a multi-functional gallery.
The Bathroom: Marble-Clad Spa Escape
Design Brief
Design a high-end spa-inspired bathroom using durable, low-maintenance materials that provide a timeless aesthetic.
Design Challenge
The compact area relied entirely on artificial light, creating a risk that full-height stone cladding would feel dark or oppressive.
Design Solution
We installed large-format Calacatta marble porcelain tiles to create a bright, continuous surface. A frameless mirror cabinet spans the wall to visually double the space and reflect light from the cove ceiling. A fluted timber vanity was added to provide organic texture and contrast against the cool stone surfaces.
Mood Palette: Material Selection for Modern Sanctuaries
Our curated material palette focuses on raw earth tones, refined stone, and high-tactility textures. We harmonize the rhythmic patterns of fluted timber and artisanal bouclé with the organic veining of natural marble. This combination creates a "quiet luxury" aesthetic that prioritizes durability and grounded serenity for modern Singaporean homes.
